TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Member of the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Fritz Edward Siregar had little to no comment on Sunday’s presidential debate that saw incumbent candidate Jokowi allegedly mentioning personal matters of his opponent Prabowo Subianto.
Fritz said that the agency will have to study the candidate’s words if any official complaint is eventually sent to the Bawaslu.
“We will have to wait for the report or allegation sent by the BPN (Prabowo’s campaign team),” said Fritz yesterday.
The so-called “personal attack” happened at the third segment of the presidential debate on Sunday where Jokowi made a statement about Prabowo Subianto’s land ownership of a 220 thousand hectare of land in East Kalimantan and 120 thousand hectares in Aceh.
Prabowo’s campaign team deputy Priyo Budi Santoso regretted the occurrence and argues that Jokowi should not have mentioned Prabowo’s personal land ownership. “In a debate adhering to a code of conduct, there should not be provoking and personal attacks,” said Priyo right after the debate ended on Sunday.
